Irena Bataković

Russian language translator

Irena Bataković was born in Kazan, Russia, but her roots trace back to Montenegro. She completed her undergraduate studies at Kazan Federal University (Institute of International Relations, History, and Oriental Studies), at the Department of World Cultural Heritage, specializing in the culture of countries and regions, cultural studies. From 2014 to 2018, she graduated with honors. She continued her education at Saint Petersburg State University, where in 2020 she earned a master’s degree at the Faculty of Philology, Department of Foreign Literature History, focusing on British cultural studies.

Irena is dedicated to continuous learning and professional development. She has completed several professional courses, including a program on managing ethnocultural centers (Moscow State Institute of Culture, 2021) and specialization in sociocultural rehabilitation and adaptation of people with disabilities (Saint Petersburg Institute of Culture, 2021). She has also completed several online courses in graphic design and website creation. Currently, she is pursuing additional professional education in business analysis (2024–2025).

She began her professional career in translation in 2015, specializing in the Russian-Montenegrin (Serbian) language pair. Her extensive experience includes work in Russia, Serbia, and Montenegro, as well as international collaborations with Croatia, England, and Ukraine. Since 2021, she has been living and working in Montenegro.

In 2024, she joined the NGO “Civic Alliance” as a Russian language translator on a UNHCR project titled “Providing Free Legal Assistance to Asylum Seekers, Refugees, and Persons at Risk of Statelessness in Montenegro.”
