ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE SEMINAR “HUMAN RIGHTS – BETWEEN STANDARDS AND PRACTICE”

Topic of the seminar will be “Human Rights – between standards and practice” and introductory lecture will have H.E. Nils Ragnar Kamsvag, Norwegian Ambassador who will speak about the importance of the Constitution in development of health society, providing an example of Norway that adopted the most important legal act of the country 200 years ago. The same day, Šućko Baković, Ombudsman of Montenegro, will speak about the practice of the Institution of Ombudsman in Montenegrin society.

The second day of the seminar, on topic related to the legislative in human rights area based on Copenhagen criteria and the situation in Montenegro will speak Mr. Aleksandar Zeković, member of the Council for the Civic Control of the Police. Mr. Siniša Bjeković, from the Human Rights Center will speak about the institutional protection of human rights in Montenegro. Mr. Milan Radović, Coordinator of Human Rights Programme in Civic Alliance will speak about monitoring of violation of human rights and the problems in this area; Mr. Srđa Keković, General Secretary of the Union of trade unions will speak about labor and trade union rights. Lecture about the status of refugees and displaced persons after the Balkan crisis and the road towards the EU membership will have Mr. Aleksandar Čađenović from UNHCR and Mrs. Ivana Jelić, Professor (PhD) will have a lecture on minority rights.

The last day of this module, Mr. Aleksa Ivanović, member of the Council of the Agency for the protection of personal data will speak about the sensitive line between the right to freedom of informing and the right to privacy. Mrs. Snežana Jonica MP at the Parliament of Montenegro will speak about the amending of legislation and its impact on changes of social practice. The last lecture in the frame of this module about human rights in Montenegro in Montenegro, from the perspective of international community will have Mr. Kyle Fielding from the US Embassy in Podgorica.

Members of XII generation of SDL are 23 young representatives from Montenegrin political parties, media and NGOs.
