As part of the project “Providing free legal aid to asylum seekers, refugees and persons at risk of statelessness” which the Civic Alliance is implementing with the support of UNHCR Montenegro, our team of legal advisers provides legal assistance to persons from Ukraine who wish to apply, who have already applied and to whom temporary protection in Montenegro was granted.
We hereby inform you that foreigners under temporary protection, by the Decision of the Government of Montenegro, the duration of temporary protection has been extended until March 11, 2024.
In order to change your documents on approved temporary protection, the validity of which expires on March 10, 2023, it is necessary for all adults to come PERSONALLY to the regional unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro (MUP) in their place of residence and submit the document that was previously issued , as well as the document of minor children. Minors are not obliged to come, the document for them on temporary protection can be taken over by a parent/guardian/adoptive parent.
Even if the certificate of temporary protection was previously obtained in another municipality, it should now be changed in the place where you currently live.
No other additional documents are required and the entire procedure is free of charge.
The only exception will be for the residents of Budva, because the change of documents will be done at the MUP mobile station in Petrovac (8 street in front of the Police building).
The change of documents will be done between February 21 and March 10, 2023. If you miss this deadline, you will lose all your rights under the Law on International and Temporary Protection of Foreigners. You will also be required to submit a new request for temporary protection so that you can continue to enjoy all the rights that you enjoy.
The working hours of the MUP are from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
We ask everyone for patience, especially in the first days of this procedure.
