The Civic Alliance is a non-profit organization, founded in 2011 with the aim of promoting, protecting, and advocating for human rights in Montenegro. It is dedicated to building a fair and inclusive society in which the rights of every individual are respected and protected, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, or any other personal characteristic.
We continuously monitor the work of judicial authorities and public administration at both the municipal and national levels. We believe that transparency, accountability, and fairness in the work of these institutions are the foundation of a democratic society and one of the essential prerequisites for the respect of human rights. Ongoing monitoring allows us to identify systemic shortcomings and propose specific reforms to ensure that institutions serve citizens and operate in accordance with international human rights standards.
The Civic Alliance places special focus on the education of young political leaders, representatives of non-governmental organizations, the media, as well as advocating for gender equality. Through informal education forms, we aim to create competent, effective political and social activists, and future decision-makers. One of the Civic Alliance’s goals is to create a society where women and men have equal rights, opportunities, and access to all areas of social life. Through educational programs and collaboration with institutions and the civil sector, we strive to highlight the challenges women face and contribute to reducing gender discrimination in all segments of society.
Additionally, we are actively working to reduce the stigmatization and discrimination of marginalized groups, including members of the Roma and Egyptian communities, as well as migrants and refugees.
The Civic Alliance, together with partners, established the Civic House as a place that will bring together non-governmental organizations and activists advocating for the strengthening of democracy and human rights.
We believe that the promotion of human rights is a shared responsibility of all members of society, and that inclusion is key to social cohesion.
We place special emphasis on the education of young political leaders through additional education programs as a framework for acquiring new theoretical and practical knowledge. The issue of gender equality is central. The goal of the Civic Alliance is to create a society in which women and men have equal rights, opportunities, and access to all areas of social life. Through educational programs and collaboration with institutions and the civil sector, we strive to highlight the challenges women face and contribute to reducing gender discrimination in all segments of society.
