Awards Presented for the Best Journalistic Stories on Interculturalism in Montenegro

The Civic Alliance presented awards today for the three best journalistic stories/features on the topic of positive examples of interculturalism in Montenegro.

A total of eight submissions were received in response to the call, which was open until March 3, 2026. The diversity and quality of the submitted stories testify to the high level of professional and social commitment of journalists, as well as to the importance of promoting topics that foster mutual understanding, respect, and unity in Montenegrin society.

The three awarded journalistic stories/features are:

The first prize was awarded to Munevera Sutović for the feature “Mera Kurbardović Kuč: A Forgotten Heroine of the Rožaje area,” broadcast on Radio Television Rožaje (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQfhwri5MuY).

The second prize was awarded to Svetlana Mandić for the feature “We Are Brothers to One Another,” published on the RTNK portal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeRFF73ejBA).

The third prize was awarded to Sanja Čavor for the story “Two Incense Burners for One Soul of the City – The Spiritual Vertical of Kotor’s Unity,” published on the Radio Kotor portal (https://radiokotor.info/clanak/drustvo/dvije-kadionice-za-jednu-du%C5%A0u-grada-duhovna-vertikala-kotorskog-zajedni%C5%A0tva/2).

The Civic Alliance congratulates the award winners and thanks all journalists who participated in the call. We particularly encourage media professionals to continue, through their stories and features, to promote positive examples of interculturalism, contributing to the development of a more tolerant and inclusive society in Montenegro.

The call was implemented as part of the project “Minorities, Past and Future: Lessons for a New Generation,” carried out by the Civic Alliance with the support of the Fund for the Protection and Realization of Minority Rights.
