OPEN LETTER REGARDING THE INCIDENT AT THE BORDER OF MACEDONIA BECAUSE OF THE ENORMOUS FLOW OF MIGRANTS

Images and information about the events on the border Makedonia shown in media indicate the gross violations of human rights of migrants, including children, women, the elderly and people with disabilities. Unfortunately, unless we see that Macedonia is not willing to take responsibility and humanely respond to this situation, we must conclude that there is no country in the region, or among EU Member States not to have specific answers and actions.

We understand the seriousness of the situation and the burden of suffering, but these actions in a particular situation spoil the country’s image, which has opened the borders to Kosovo refugees in 1999.

Finally, the European Commission is expected to replace bureaucratic dictionary from the press conference as soon as possible with the provision of concrete assistance, and governments in the region for joint action with full respect for human rights and accepted international documents.

With respect,

Milan Radović
