Vojo Djuranovic

Project Assistant

Vojo Đuranović was born in Cetinje. He finished high school in Podgorica and earned a title of graphic technician-bookbinder.

He worked as a graphic artist at daily “Pobjeda”, Jugobanka JSC Podgorica, and the company for graphic services “Offset”. From 2008 to the end of 2018, he was employed at the NGO Legal Center on several UNHCR projects. He participated in several trainings and seminars dedicated to the scope of projects. He visited the Center for the Accommodation of Asylum Seekers in Banja Koviljača in 2008, where he obtained initial information about the way of work and the needs of these persons.

From 2017 to the end of 2018, he worked as a case worker at the NGO Legal Center, and then started doing the same work at the NGO Civic Alliance. Through his work in CA, he gained great experience and communication skills with persons who need asylum in our country, as well as with those who wish to continue their journey to Western European countries. During that time, he conducted more than 12,000 interviews with these individuals. During his employment at CA, he participated in several trainings related to this project, including a lecture by Oleg Kolomiyets, Senior Regional Field Safety Adviser for Europe, on the topic of safety in working with these individuals, and Training on cultural competence and cultural mediation, where lecturers were prof. Elvira Musica and Yamen Hrekes, etc.

From the beginning of his engagement in these jobs, he wrote a large number of daily, monthly, semi-annual and annual reports on work with migrants, and through communication he provided the necessary information and advice to these often unfortunate people.

Vojo is married to Vera, with whom he has two grown-up children, Marija and Matija. He likes sports and music, and his hobby is rebinding and preserving old books. The oldest books he rebound are the “Psalter”, printed in St. Petersburg in 1833, and the “Minaeus” from 1835 with a dedication by Njegoš.
