This Report constitutes the key result of the project and provides an overview of international standards and national legislation and practice in the field of mixed migration, as well as recommendations to influence the reduction of migratory movement towards the EU borders and ensure basic set of rights for asylum-seekers in Montenegro.
The round table also served to announce 18 December, International Migrants’ Day as well as the opening of negotiation chapters 23 and 24, highlighting the importance of long-term planning of migration policies and their effective implementation, but also the obligation of the state to manage the perception of migrations and migrants in conformity with international human rights standards. The participants of this event agreed that further development of the legal framework in line with EU standards, strengthening of institutional capacities and the establishment of an effective coordination system in the implementation of migration policies, represent the utmost priorities of Montenegro in this area.
