CIVIC ALLIANCE HAS OPENED NEW OFFICES TO HELP PEOPLE FROM UKRAINE

Since 2019, Civic Alliance (CA) has been providing free legal aid to asylum seekers, persons granted international protection, persons from the territory of the former Yugoslavia, persons at risk of statelessness, with the support of UNHCR.

Since March, free legal aid has been available to people who came to Montenegro fleeing the war in Ukraine. CA legal advisers provide free legal aid to citizens of Ukraine who apply for temporary protection in Montenegro, as well as to people who have been granted temporary protection.

Free legal aid refers to:

  • assistance in submitting requests for temporary protection;
  • assistance in submitting requests for the identity number (JMBG);

but also assistance in exercising rights under the Law on International and Temporary Protection of Foreigners, such as:

  • residence in Montenegro;
  • adequate accommodation, necessary assistance and basic means of living;
  • health protection;
  • primary and secondary education;
  • information on rights and duties;
  • employment;
  • family reunification;
  • documents;
  • right to apply for international protection.

With the intention of providing legal aid to people from Ukraine more effectively, in addition to the office in Podgorica, CA opened offices in Bar and Herceg Novi, while one legal adviser is at disposal at the Red Cross premises in Budva, Kotor and Tivat.

The CA legal adviser in Budva is engaged in the premises of Red Cross on all working days from 8:00 to 16:00, at the address: Prva ulica 8, except on Thursdays, when she is available in Tivat and Kotor according to the following schedule:

Tivat – Red Cross premises, Zagrebačka bb, 069 066 553; from 10:00 to 12:00,

Kotor – Red Cross premises, Škaljari bb, 069 066 553; from 12:30 to 14:30.
