On Tuesday, 11 October, we participated in the World Inclusion Day celebration in Podgorica together with the children of the Roma and Egyptian population from Camp Konik, within the joint program of the European Union and the Council of Europe ROMACTED II. The Civic Alliance is a support organization in the implementation of the program activities in Camp Konik.
The World Inclusion Day was celebrated in the multimedia hall of the University Sports and Cultural Center under the joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe “Quality education for all”. The event was organized in partnership with the joint program of the European Union and the Council of Europe “Promoting good governance and Roma empowerment at local level (ROMACTED II)”.
The celebration included a fair attended by students from 40 Montenegrin schools. Through the exhibition of works, handicrafts, publications, performances and sports activities, the children presented their schools and showed how they nurture an inclusive and democratic culture in their everyday lives. In the “Play and Win for Inclusion” competition, the teams demonstrated their best knowledge in fun quizzes and games, but also won valuable prizes.
Children from the Roma and Egyptian communities from Camp Konik also participated in the event. They competed in team games with their peers, and presented their vision of inclusion through artistic and literary works. In preparation for this day, the Civic Alliance organized a workshop on Friday, 7 October, to discuss inclusion with children. This was an opportunity for them to socialize, but also to express their views and thoughts on this important topic.
