SIGNING OF THE AGREEMENT TO ESTABLISH THE WOMEN’S COMMITTEE CLUB OF THE BIJELO POLJE MUNICIPALITY ASSEMBLY

Representatives of the Civic Alliance (CA), Milan Radović and Pavle Ćupić, attended today the meeting that was organized on the occasion of signing of the Agreement to establish the Women’s Committee Club of the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly. The signing of the agreement was initiated through the CA’s activity – project “Platform for achieving gender equality”, implemented with the support of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, which involves cooperation with women councilors from the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly.
In addition to the CA representatives, the meeting was attended by the chairwoman and members of the Council for Gender Equality of the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly; the chairwomen of the forum, i.e. the women’s alliance of parties participating in the Municipal Assembly; representatives of NGOs dealing with women’s rights in the Municipality of Bijelo Polje; heads of local government bodies; and representatives of the Office for Gender Equality of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje.

Those present were addressed by Ernad Suljević, Chairman of the Municipal Assembly; Petar Smolović, Mayor; Vesna Pavićević, co-chairwoman of the Women’s Club of the Parliament of Montenegro and chairwoman of the councilors’ club in the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly; Suada Zoronjić, member of the Women’s Club of MPs of Montenegro and councilor; and Almasa Rizvanović, chairwoman of the Council for Gender Equality of the Bijelo Polje Municipality.

Milan Radović, CA Program Director, also addressed the meeting participants. He praised the cooperation with the Municipality of Bijelo Polje and emphasized the importance of forming such an informal club in the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly, which will work on the affirmation of gender equality and a better position of women in society. The plan is to form such clubs in the municipalities of Tuzi and Ulcinj, too. Women councilors from Ulcinj expressed their desire to act in this direction, and the establishment of such a club in the Ulcinj Municipal Assembly is expected soon.
