On the occasion of marking the 31st anniversary of the death of Srdjan Aleksic, the Civic Alliance and the Youth Initiative for Human Rights are organizing a flower-laying ceremony on Saturday, January 27, at 10:00 am on Bulevar Srđana Aleksića in Podgorica.
Srdjan Aleksic remains a lasting symbol of courage and humanity, having lost his young life while defending a friend of a different nationality. Srđan attempted to help Alen, who was being harassed by members of the Army of Republika Srpska, and was subsequently beaten to death by them with rifle butts in front of passersby and police.
His sacrifice serves as a reminder today of the importance of solidarity, tolerance, and mutual respect—values that we need to nurture and preserve in all circumstances.
Therefore, we invite you to join us on Saturday, January 27, in paying tribute to Srdjan Aleksic and collectively sending a message of peace, unity, and solidarity.
