WE ARE MARKING HUMAN RIGHTS DAY AND RULE OF LAW WEEK

International Human Rights Day, December 10, is marked on the day when Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed in 1948 and for the first time in the history of mankind the right of all people to “life, liberty and security… without distinction” was recognized. Within the Council of Europe, the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms was adopted in 1950, which, in addition to fundamental rights, establishes mechanisms for the protection and supervision of their exercise.

In addition, Montenegro, as a candidate for EU membership, from the earliest stage of accession to the European Union, must establish and promote the work of the most important institutions for maintaining the rule of law, which is one of the basic postulates on which modern society is based.

To this end, we invite you to follow a variety of programs to mark Human Rights Day and Rule of Law Week, which include many activities that promote basic human rights, and the work of relevant institutions that are most important for maintaining the rule of law.
